The Playsation 1 version would be the ideal version to play if it weren’t for the load times. Chrono Trigger on DS the SNES version + anime cutscenes + a couple new areas + a few other extras + a different (more accurate) translation. Chrono Trigger is an amazing game, still one of my all-time favorites.
I can say that without ever having played the DS version. I just played it again last year for probably the first time in a decade…and yes, it absolutely holds up. The story is great and there’s little to no grinding required while still have a good length of playtime.
